It's been a whirlwind 11 glorious months on the East Coast in Newport, Rhode Island...but sadly, our chapter has come to a close here and we're rolling out of town today. It's going to be a sad sad time driving over the Pell Bridge and seeing Newport in our rear view mirrors for the last time. Sniff!!
Our home for the last 11 months, I'm sure this old house could tell some GREAT stories from all the families that have crossed through it's doorways.
and yes, I've some MAJOR updating on the blog to do once we arrive, unpack and get settled...stay tuned...
A recent addiction of mine has been "Pinning" or rather, throwing up all things I think are a great idea... recipes, room colors, refurbished chairs, kids projects, birthday party ideas, inspiration for this and that...all without paper and all on my virtual organized bulletin boards on Pinterest.
Hooray for not having to clip ideas out of magazines (which are soon becoming obsolete in our house) and finding a place to put everything...papers papers papers....grrrr....I HATE papers!
So without further ado, I give you my Pinterest, follow along if you'd like and check out all the AMAZING 'pins' of fellow 'pinners'...I love saying that, "pin, pins, pinners", feels like I'm in elementary school!
Kimberly over at A Night Owl Blog is hosting a Pinterst Linky-Party this week, go check it out!
It happened this morning...that unmistakable THUMP when a body falls from bed...or a crib to be exact. Followed by crying, more from fright and disbelief than anything else. BUMMER...he almost lasted till he was 2!
Guess Asher will be upgrading to a bed without bars in the near future...
I've had my eye on a weekly photo challenge over at Our Reflections Blog, written by the lovely and talented Ms. Laura. And decided that this week, I'd try to play along. The theme is "from a low angle".
This is one of my Instagram pics that I took of my wee little one trying on his new boots he just received from his godparents, all the way from Texas.
These boots are definitely made for walking!
(and those chubby baby legs...don't you want to just squish them?!)

Alasdair's teacher, Miss Dawn has been practicing with the Pre-K kids at school and they put on a wonderful Passion Play for all the parents to enjoy. I was asked to take photos during their performance, here are a few of my favs...

Oh what a joyful noise...when old friends from the past get together!
I've been so fortunate to have Krista live so close since we've moved to the East Coast. She and her hubby moved to the Boston area to start a church and just had their fourth sweet little babe, David. With a new baby, comes family...her sister Maria flew in from AZ and her Mama (whom I will most likely always call Mrs. D, she was my old basketball coach and one of my teachers growing up in IA) flew in from overseas. Such a fun time catching up, taking photos and laughing about all the funny stories and memories from our past. These three ladies hold a very special place in my heart and I kept wanting to pinch myself to make sure that their visit to Newport was real! Mrs. D, Maria and Krista will always be like family and where ever they are, the familiar sense of home will abound.
I'm so utterly excited about this book!! My English teacher wrote it and the book has recently been published at Smashwords.com. BUT today and tomorrow, you can snag this lovely little gem FREE at Amazon.com
Tell your friends, neighbors, relatives, mailman...whoever you think would enjoy a really good summer read!
It's so true, when you live in a vacation spot, you forget to go and enjoy all the beautiful places that are just a hop, skip and a jump away...not to mention, it's been a little brisk this winter, so the beach isn't the first thing that comes to mind. My DH (dear hubby) however took the kiddos for a walk to the beach and I got a phone call to come and pick them up. Of course the 'golden hour' was upon us, so I grabbed my camera and snagged a few pics of the kids on an almost bare beach!
Our three little munchkins are growing up fast!
and yes, this is how my very dapper hubby dresses here in Newport and pretty much all the time, even when walking to the beach!
My parents were able to make it out to Newport to visit us for a week at the end of their three month long winter vacation. After everyone got over the flu bug, they were able to see some sights, spend time with their Grandchildren and enjoy a bit of Newport taking in Ocean Drive, the Mansions on Bellevue Ave and the beaches. We also were able to pop up to the Boston area to meet Jeannette and Luisa at IKEA and visit Krista, Troy and their 4 kiddos at their home. Their newest being just 5 days old! So glad you both could make it out to Newport before we head to our next duty station Dad and Mom, safe travels home! We love you!
I know I say it EVERY year BUT it's true!! I can't BELIEVE our baby girl is growing so fast and is already 7 years old, wow! The first time I spotted my tiny babe and got to finally hold her in my arms was the most precious moment that I love to relive again and again in my memories, photos and dreams. This little girl has grown from a beautiful 'angel kissed' baby into a sweet, thoughtful, considerate, smart, beautiful child who I adore with all my heart! She is truly my little mini-me...Happy Birthday Adelaide, may all your dreams come true!
This year, her Birthday fell during Spring break, which was the perfect chance for us to have a fun packed day with two of her friends, while Daddy kept the boys busy at home.
Opening presents before breakfast
three friends getting ready for a 'girls day' out
they've picked out their polish
time to paint
their nails matched their outfits!
popcorn and a movie
Birthday treats at Coco's
A fun filled day and these three beauties are still smiling!
Our friends from ND, the Jackson's recently moved to the Boston area and came down to explore Newport and hang out with us for the day.
Kellie and Nate
Kellie braved picking up a lobster, eeek!
After catching up, we all hopped in the car and drove around to a few of our favorite locations, including 1st Beach, Ocean Drive and Fisherman's Wharf. We sure are going to miss the East Coast come this summer...
Well, we finally got snow in Newport!! The kids were THRILLED and couldn't wait to bundle up and play in the white stuff. The majority of the snow fell on Saturday, which was perfect since they had both Saturday and Sunday to roll around and eat as much snow as their little hearts desired.
Of course they promised they wouldn't eat any of the yellow snow!!
